Jaxson Weese, 13, of Sebastian, achieved a remarkable milestone on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Sandridge Golf Course. Participating in an event organized by the Indian River Golf Foundation (IRGF), Jaxson proudly scored his first Hole-in-One on the eighth hole of the Lakes Course.
The impressive shot covered a distance of 170 yards, expertly executed with his trusted Mizuno 7 iron. Luckily, his parents, Ryan and Kim, and ten other IRGF players and parents witnessed his shot. Jaxson is an avid golfer and plays in the South Florida Junior PGA and Florida Junior Tour.
The eighth-grade Storm Grove Middle student has been playing golf recreationally since he was little, but in 2020 when the pandemic hit, he started practicing daily as golf courses were pretty much the only thing open. He joined the Indian River Golf Foundation after meeting Roger Van Dyke, Founder/President, at the practice chipping area at Sandridge, and that’s when it all took off for him.
2022 was an exciting year for Jaxson; he won the South Florida Junior PGA Championship and Player of the Year for the Boys 11-12 Prep Tour Division. In addition, he also won the Atlantic Junior Golf Tour Cup through the IRGF and the Sal Spallone Player’s Advantage Golf Skills Championship.
Jax is also a member of the Florida Team for the FORE All Junior Golf Foundation, which participates in invitational events in South Florida and California. At the beginning of June, he competed in a two-day Ryder Cup-style junior invitational in Monterey Peninsula, California. Team FL brought home the win and trophy!
Jaxson isn’t just a talented athlete; he’s also a straight-A student taking advanced courses and a National Junior Honor Society member.
With Jaxson’s busy schedule, he still finds time to volunteer for the Indian River Golf Foundation as a cadet several times a week. His duties include setting up golf activities and teaching elementary school junior golfers new skills.
