Tropical Depression Possible With 60% Chance of Formation

Possible tropical depression

A large tropical wave is currently churning in the Atlantic near the Lesser Antilles, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).

While the system is producing disorganized showers and thunderstorms, there is no immediate threat of a hurricane in Sebastian at this time.

However, residents are advised to stay informed since we live in a hurricane-prone area.

“Environmental conditions are forecast to gradually become more conducive for development while the system moves generally west-northwestward over the Greater Antilles and towards the Bahamas,” the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said Wednesday.

There is a 60% chance of formation during the next seven days. Forecasters warn that a tropical depression could form as early as this weekend while the system is near the Greater Antilles, Bahamas, or Florida.

While the latest weather models indicate a small low-pressure system approaching Florida, there is no concrete information regarding cyclone development at this time.

Sebastian Daily will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as they become available.
