VERO BEACH – Indian River County officials have placed a county-wide burn ban today, April 27, 2017, due to dry conditions.

There was a rumor that the ban notice might be extended, but Sebastian Daily hasn’t received word from the county yet.

The mandatory burn ban prohibits all outdoor burning that has not been specifically permitted by the Florida Forest Service.

Bon fires, campfires, and the burning of vegetative (yard) debris is prohibited until further notice.

“All residents are advised to report any outside burning to 9-1-1,” Brian Burkeen, Assistant Chief of Indian River County Fire Rescue, said in a statement.

The ban will be revisited every 7 days and renewed as necessary to ensure the safety of our residents.
