As of Sunday evening, there are now 82 positive COVID-19 cases in Sebastian, Florida. The number of cases has been rising steadily over the past 10 days.
City Manager Paul Carlisle and Mayor Ed Dodd ask all citizens to wear a mask when they can not social distance, especially in stores.
Last week, the Sebastian City Council passed a resolution requiring all employees at local businesses to wear a mask when social distancing isn’t possible.
Last week, Capt. Hirams Resort shut down until Thursday, July 9th after a hotel employee, and a restaurant employee tested positive. They are required to self-quarantine for 14-days. All other staff was required to be tested.
Capt. Hirams president Will Collins said they are deep cleaning the entire property while they are closed. They plan to reopen Thursday, July 9th.
Other areas around Sebastian are also seeing an increase in COVID-19 positive cases.

Indian River County now has 974 cases, and Brevard County has 2,593.
There is one new Coronavirus related death reported in Indian River County.
Florida broke a new record of positive COVID-19 cases Friday, totaling 11,443.
