Treasure Coast Community Health (TCCH) partnered with the Florida Department of Health (DOH) to provide 500 COVID-19 vaccines to at-risk populations in Indian River County (IRC).

With recent holiday gatherings and travels, Indian River County reported 600 new cases from Dec. 29 to Jan. 1, including a record 193 reported Dec. 31. Those four days represented 8.2% of all cases reported countywide since the beginning of the pandemic, according to Department of Health.

In the week ending Jan. 3, 14.1% of COVID-19 tests in IRC were positive. That’s up from 8.6% in mid-November.

In an effort to combat COVID spikes, TCCH and partners administered the first IRC drive-thru immunizations for COVID-19.

Receiving and coordinating vaccine supplies, offering scheduling and public information, and administration of the vaccine was a trifecta through the three organizations working together. More events will be set as soon as more vaccines are available.
