VERO BEACH – Last week, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office conducted an alcohol compliance check on several stores in Sebastian and Vero Beach.
The check found that six stores violated 562.11 (selling an alcoholic beverage to a minor) in Indian River County. The store clerks have been issued a Notice to Appear.
A store clerk at Citgo on 6th South Oak St. in Fellsmere sold a 6 pack of Twisted Iced Tea to a minor.
The Cumberland Farms at 957 CR 512 in Sebastian sold a Bud Light to a minor.
That same afternoon, a clerk at Pari Discount Beverage at 695 CR 512 in Sebastian sold a Redds Wicked Mango to a person under the age of 21.
The alcohol compliance team then went south and witnessed a store clerk at the Shell station on 9520 20th Street in Vero Beach sell a Mikes Harder Cranberry Lemonade to a minor.
That same hour, the store clerk at 7-Eleven at 8801 20th Street in Vero Beach sold a minor a Four Loko alcoholic beverage.
A store clerk at Citgo on 43rd Avenue in Vero Beach was caught selling a Bud Light to a minor.
Each store could face penalties, as well as the store clerks who sold the alcohol beverages to people under the age of 21. In some cases, a store can lose their beverage license if they receive too many penalties.
