SEBASTIAN – Ken Wessel, the president of John’s Island Foundation and a former board member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River County, was arrested on prostitution charges connected to a human trafficking raid.
Wessel, 75, was charged with soliciting prostitution. He was arrested Wednesday at his home in Indian River Shores.
Wessel has since been released on $1,000 bail.
In recent days, there have been several men arrested on charges of soliciting prostitution, including New Patriots owner Robert Kraft and billionaire businessman John Childs.
We also reported that two former police officers and an undersheriff were also arrested for soliciting prostitution in Sebastian and Vero Beach.
Police said that undercover officers planted and utilized electronic surveillance devices inside and outside the massage parlors in Sebastian and Vero Beach.
“If this can happen in Indian River County, where else can it happen,” Sheriff Deryl Loar said during a news conference Thursday. Loar said that each spa most likely grossed over $1 million a year.
