The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating a dead alligator found in Sebastian with its tail cut and mouth taped shut, according to the Sebastian Police Department.
The dead alligator was reported at 4:25 p.m. after it was found near The Watering Hole Park. The gator was approximately 7 feet in length.
Lt. Timothy Wood said the tail was likely severed for meat and harvesting. Wood said the incident isn’t something that is common.
Wood said the FWC has already picked up the alligator and is still investigating the incident.
