The Indian River County Parks and Recreation Department will be hosting the Special Olympics of Florida State Aquatic Championships on October 7 & 8, 2023, at the North County Aquatic Center in Sebastian, and they require volunteers.
Almost entirely dependent on volunteers, Special Olympics Florida couldn’t manage the hundreds of competing athletes without your help.
This event’s success hinges on individuals who can contribute their time, passion, and vigor. Opportunities are available in various roles, such as timing, staging, handing out awards, and ushering.
Volunteering at this unique event offers the chance to forge enduring friendships and provides priceless rewards. Regardless of your skillset, interests, background, or schedule, there’s a way for you to contribute to making this event outstanding.
Volunteers will assist with the following tasks:
- Check-in athletes for competition and escort them to their lane assignments.
- Serve as timers for competition.
- Distribute results between the pool, competition HQ, and awards locations.
- Assist with distributing lunch to volunteers and participants.
- Assist with preparing and presenting awards.
Sport-specific expertise is not required, as on-site training will be offered. Volunteers will receive a T-shirt and lunch for their respective shifts. If you need documentation of your community service hours, it can be provided upon request.
Anyone interested in volunteering their time for this event, please call the North County Aquatic Center at (772) 226-1746 or sign up here.
