While some homes along Indian River Drive in Sebastian are decorated to help spread the holiday cheer, one area on the road has become a popular destination spot for people taking pictures and selfies.
“We must have 3,000 people stop by and take pictures of the tree each year,” Bill Mars told Sebastian Daily.
Mars said his wife Juliann had the idea of decorating a little tree and putting it in their decorative boat. So they set up the annual exhibit just north of the Capt. Hirams Resort on Indian River Drive. It’s a great holiday setting along the waterfront across the street for the couple’s home.
The tree and boat have become popular among locals and tourists for taking family pictures. One family even asked Mars to pose for a photo.
“I have families asking me to take a family picture in front of the tree,” Mars said.
Several people have printed their pictures and mailed them to Mars, thanking him and his family for the photo op. Mars said it brings joy to his family to see people stop by the tree.
There are several homes in Sebastian decorated to promote holiday cheer. Sebastian Daily hopes to have a map for next year to document these areas for the community.
Kudos to people like the Mars family who go out of their way to create something for people to enjoy.
