The Board of County Commissioners in Indian River County voted unanimously to fill the open County Administrator’s position with John Titkanich, currently employed with St. Lucie County.
The next step will be to negotiate a contract.
“I am happy to report that Mr. Titkanich accepted the position,” said Suzanne Boyll, Human Resources Director. “Our target is to have a contract on the Board’s March 28th agenda,” said Boyll.
Titkanich, the Innovation & Performance Division Director for St. Lucie County, has vast experience in planning, economic development, and management.
He comes to IRC with a Master of Public Administration, a Graduate Certificate in Urban and Regional Planning, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.
Titkanich has worked for the City of Cocoa and the City of Orlando. He credits learning the concept of leadership to his experience as a young Civil Air Patrol cadet officer. He emphasizes that leadership skills were honed while serving as a U.S. Army Ranger.
“I applaud my fellow commissioners for the time and energy devoted to finding the County’s next Administrator. I am especially grateful that Mr. Titkanich has the opportunity to join the County with a 5-0 vote. I also want to thank our staff for their endurance of the process and thank Mike Zito, Interim Administrator, for his leadership throughout this journey,” said Chairman Joseph Earman.
Titkanich and his wife chose Indian River County to build a home before interviewing for the County Administrator position.
