Labor Day weekend is upon us, and while AAA expects to help over 300,000 drivers nationwide with car troubles, their focus goes beyond just fixing flat tires and dead batteries.
The Auto Club Group is also activating its Tow to Go program in Florida and several other states to keep impaired drivers off the road.
For more than 25 years, AAA’s Tow to Go program has provided a safe alternative for those who may be under the influence. With a simple call, a tow truck will be dispatched to transport you and your vehicle to a safe location within a 10-mile radius, completely free of charge, regardless of AAA membership status.
What You Need To Know
- Active Dates: August 30th, 6:00 PM – September 3rd, 6:00 AM
- Availability: Free for AAA members and non-members
- Service Area: Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Michigan, North Dakota, Nebraska, Tennessee, Wisconsin, Colorado (Denver area), North Carolina (Charlotte area), and Indiana (Fort Wayne/South Bend area)

“This program eliminates any excuse for driving under the influence,” says Mark Jenkins, spokesperson for AAA – The Auto Club Group. “However, we strongly encourage everyone to plan ahead and secure a designated driver before celebrating.”

- Tow to Go is intended as a last resort, not a planned ride home.
- The service offers a ride for one person and their vehicle within a 10-mile radius.
- Appointments cannot be scheduled in advance.
- AAA may need to make alternative arrangements in some situations.
- Availability may be limited in rural areas or during severe weather conditions.
